China is a lot bigger and a lot larger country as compared to Japan in population and size of the lands people in Japan living a much better life than those in China. Having been to both I would say that I found China much more different to what I am used to than Japan. Compare hostel BB and guesthouse prices between China and Japan to find the cheapest accommodation here. Of the two Japan is way better.
